A month after our Field Trip to China and Hong Kong we’re finally getting around to posting some of the things we saw and liked.
Part I: 3D Maps
When we came across this map in Hong Kong we were thrilled that it was 3 dimensional. We thought what a glorious thing that some designer made the design rise off the 2d plane just because they wanted to. It doesn’t make the map more useful it just makes it more awesome. So you can imagine our disappointment 3 seconds later when we realized they were tactile maps for the blind. Don’t get us wrong, braille maps for the blind are definitely a good thing, but We’d be lying if we didn’t say that we were saddened that they weren’t pointlessly 3D.
